I liked it so much I purchased another for a friend

I've been a Bruce Lee fan since I was a kid. But over the years there has been so much stuff on him that the market was simply saturated with many of the magazines and books simply repeating themselves. That said, I hadn't purchased publications on Bruce in 15 years until I ran across this book. I have to give it a thumbs up and four stars. First off, some of the articles in the book I had read before but what made it special is that Fiaz Rafiq went into the vaults and compiled some pretty good interviews. Interviews that are very informative and refreshing. They way he broke down the chapters and peoples place in Bruce's life was interesting. Wether your already a Bruce Lee fan or looking to learn a few things about him, this is a very good source. I liked it so much I purchased another for a friend.

I have read alot of Bruce Lee biographies. This one is awesome because it gives first hand accounts of the life and training of a legend. From original student and friends who where there, we get an insigtht to what bruce was thinking, how he evolved and alot of his training methods. would highly reccommend this to anyone who wants to learn more about the little dragon.

But this book is more for adults than for young readers; the elaborate illustrations do not illuminate the text, but complement it for the more sophisticated eye.

Grade 1 Up A stately but fervent paean to the Lord, sung by Ananias, Azarias, and Misael (Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego) in the Apocryphal addition to the Book of Daniel, calls upon all of God's creationangels, heavenly bodies, seasons, waters, hills, plants, animals, birds, mento bless, praise, and magnify him forever. Exquisitely illustrated with paintings in the glowing colors and flat, decorative patterns reminiscent of both medieval illuminated manuscripts and traditional Indian art, the result is a multi-imaged, almost dizzying celebration of the wonderful variety of mankind and nature. Each picture is contained by an elegant frame, but some are so filled with action that the objects break through the restraining lines with supplicating hands, swishing tails, fluttering leaves, and probing roots. The ingenuous, fanciful figures all raise their eyes to heaven in awed admiration. Although the artwork is always dynamic, its mood varies from the wildness of wind, rain, and fire to the wintry calm of an icicled tree, jeweled snowflakes, and a hibernating animal snug in its burrow. Micromachining Using Electrochemical Discharge Phenomenon is a first attempt to collect the state of the art knowledge on micromachining using electrochemical discharges and to establish the fundamentals of this exciting technology. It presents Spark Assisted Chemical Engraving (SACE) -- or Electro Chemical Discharge Machining (ECDM) -- an unconventional and under-utilized technology which allows for relatively low cost micromachining of glass, polymers and other materials. .

About the Author
Dr. Rolf Wüthrich is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at Concordia University, Montreal. His research includes: micromachining of glass and ceramics by non-traditional processes (fundamental aspects, modeling and simulation); development of microdevices for microfluidic, Lab on a Chip, microfuel cells and biosensors; and fabrication of nano-particles using electrochemical discharges. Dr. Wuthrich has published over 50 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers in his research field micromachining of glass using electrochemical discharges and has been invited to give keynotes in international conferences.

The possibility of modifying materials using electrical discharges has fascinated mankind ever since he observed the results of lightning striking objects in nature. We do not, of course, know when the first observation took place, but we may be reasonably sure that it was a sufficiently long time ago that many millennia had to pass before electricity was "tamed", and subsequently put to work modifying materials in a systematic, "scientific" way-as exemplified by Humphrey Davy's electrolysing common salt to produce metallic sodium at the Royal Institution in London.




But these are essentially faradaic processes (named after Davy's erstwhile assistant Michael Faraday), and such processes are also used extensively today for (micro) machining, as exemplified by electrochemical machining (ECM). They are relatively well known, and are applicable to conducting workpieces. Far less well known is the technology of what is now called spark-assisted chemical engraving (SACE), in which the workpiece is merely placed in the close vicinity of the pointed working electrode, and is eroded by sparks jumping across the gas bubbles that develop around the electrode to reach the electrolyte in which everything is immersed, the circuit being completed by the presence of a large counterelectrode.





This technology can therefore be equally well used for workpieces made from nonconducting materials such as glass, traditionally difficult to machine, especially at the precision micro level needed for such applications as microfluidic mixers and reactors. The development of attractive machining technologies such as SACE is in itself likely to play a decisive part in the growth of microfluidics-based methods in chemical processing and medical diagnostics, to name just two important areas of application.





Since, as the author very correctly points out, knowledge about nonfaradaic electrochemical machining methods is presently remarkably scanty within the microsystems community, this book is conceived as a comprehensive treatise, covering the entire field, starting with a lucid explanation of the physico-chemical fundamentals, and ending with a thorough discussion of the practical questions likely to be asked, and an authoritative exposition of the means to their resolution.





I therefore anticipate that this book will significantly contribute to enabling the rapid growth of micromachining of nonconducting materials, for which there is tremendous hitherto unexploited potential.

Born in Kazan, the last stronghold of the Tartars on the upper Volga River, Nicolai Fechin was well on his way to an art career before he entered his teens. Following an decade long art apprenticeship he and his family came to the United States. Fechin painted in New York, Taos, and Santa Monica. After immigrating to New York he relocated to a more suitable climate in Taos. Fechin's career flourished in the American Southwest, where his presence launched a dramatic rebirth of the artist's colony in New Mexico. He became well known for his refined style, his portraits of prominent Americans and his portrayal of indigenous American culture. Primarily interested in people he left a superb visual record of men, women and children.

Extremely gifted Russian painter of figures and still life

I often checked this book out when I was attending Ringling School of Art in the early 80's. Fechin had a wonderful ability of painting realisticly in an impressionistic manner. He was very much an influence on Illustrator Bob Peak and many others, including myself. I have looked for this book since my graduation in 1981 and have been unable to find it. Fechin, in addition to being a talented painter ans colorist was also a master drawer. This book shows his versatility and enormous talent. Someone needs to reprint this book or publish a new one on this artist!

I was left breathless looking at Fechin's charcoal drawings! They are arguably the best ever drawn next to Michaelangelo! This book contains the largest collection of Fechin drawings and paintings out there. Profusely illustrated. I was lucky to find this book at a used bookstore-buy at any price if found. You won't be disappointed!
