For some, the term play piercing has the ring of an oxymoron. How could having a needle slid beneath the skin be playful’ How erotic or transcendent can it be to get punctured’ Doesn't that hurt’ For many of us, our only exposure to hypodermic needles is in a medical context, and usually unpleasant. Getting a shot or having blood drawn are hardly erotic, sensuous experiences leading to an altered state of perception. For people who were traumatized by needles at a n early age this negative association can be difficult to break. Difficult, but far from impossible: play piercing can dramatically change one's relationship to needles from something fearful and unpleasant to something delicious and sensual. When we surrender to sensations we're not sure we can manage, we get bigger in order to make room for them. When we take the reins of control from another, we get bigger in order to hold and guide our travels with them. At the end of a journey that makes us bigger, we experience a unique type of pleasure; that pleasure extends itself to include the instruments of pain that helped us to get out of our own way. We learn to love difficult things for the lessons they can teach us, and that includes needles.

very good for beginners

This book is a very good introduction to play piercing. It provides a great tutorial for those getting started although in my opinion I think a hands on class should be mandatory before starting something like this.
Written words don't have the same power as someone in front of you demonstrating and teaching the act. My only complaint is the section on nipple and genital piercing. The impression I got was that I shouldn't go near these areas but what about all those real life instances of witnessing people pierce those areas? Now, I am just scared instead of being informed. I think that section needs to be rewritten. Other than that, I hope there is a sequal. This book is only a drop in the bucket. There is a lot more to be covered. I think the next book needs to cover more detailed techniques and methods.

Its got the deets, although totally erotic-oriented

Ive been play piercing for about 4 years, so I have a little experience and knowledge about what I'm doing however this book did give me some good ideas and information that I was looking for, especially about the more subjective parts of the experience for the piercee. It is definitely written from an erotic play standpoint, which is interesting for some and would prolly scare others. But all in all, this is an informative and really useful book. Well written and informative, a good addition to any play-piercer/piercee/sub/dom's library.

A must own reference for experienced, a must read for those wanting to learn

Lots of instruction as to the precautions, safety concerns and how to in piercing. I learned this a long time ago and this book was a great refresher for some things I may overlook. Good to keep around for reference for experienced piercers
