Original Sin: Ritual Child Rape & The church, by David C. A. Hillman

ORIGINAL SIN is an investigation of sacred Christian mysteries of antiquity to show the historic link between the use of drugs and ritualized sex embedded in Western religion.

ORIGINAL SIN is an investigation of the first acts of pedophilia within the Christian church. It is a book about the promotion and defense of child rape as a sacred Christian mystery.

The West’s most venerated social, religious and political ideals stem from a cultural war waged against the human body. ORIGINAL SIN reveals the origin of this war.

Using the influence of the first Christian Emperors, and the “moral authority” of their political organization, powerful bishops of the early Church promoted the performance of sacred “mysteries” in which young children were starved, drugged, and sodomized. In ceremonies meant to test their “purity", exorcist priests victimized young children from the ranks of the orphans and homeless who populated the large cities of the ancient world.

ORIGINAL SIN focuses on the writings of Christian priests themselves and the pagans who condemned their immoral activities. It shows that Church actively promoted and defended the rape of children, and that such crimes were present from the very earliest days of Christianity.

ORIGINAL SIN draws from ancient internal documents, written by venerated church leaders - written in Latin - who actively promoted the rape and molestation of children. Bishops, monks and priests of the early Church successfully defended themselves from legal prosecution for centuries. As the Roman public railed on priests for sexually exploiting children, the church leadership used its growing political influence to prevent any of the child rapists within the clergy from coming to justice.

ORIGINAL SIN also traces the divine feminine voice through Western history.
The potent combination of natural drugs and the feminine voice is the basis for western civilization. ORIGINAL SIN explores the foundation of western society as the product of a peculiar interaction chemical and biological forces

The pagan world was aware of the sexual crimes committed against these orphans, and waged a lengthy campaign against the priests who perpetrated these rapes.

Christian priests claimed that by sodomizing children, they were saving them from possession by the demons of the pagan religions. Christian theologians justified these acts of rape by pointing to some of the earliest writings of the apostles and even the acts of Jesus himself.

The Christian hierarchy claimed these children were being “sexually tested” in order to prevent them from being used in pagan rituals that required the same children to remain sexually inexperienced. Christian theologians justified these acts of rape by pointing to some of the earliest writings of the apostles and even the acts of Jesus himself. In the early church, groups of Christians in Asia Minor even formed their own associations that claimed the performance of such acts was a means of assuring the salvation of both the victims and the perpetrators.

Some early church fathers believed Jesus had several relationships with young boys. Prominent church leaders argued that the apostle Mark was aware of this when he wrote in his gospel that Jesus was arrested in the garden of Gethsemane in the presence of a naked teenage boy.

Note: The material in Hillman's first book, CHEMICAL MUSE, and here in ORIGINAL SIN was part of His dissertation research. While they could find no flaws in the work, his dissertation committee was so outraged by the material that Hillman found in the ancient texts - written in Latin, which he reads fluently - that they refused to pass the dissertation or award the doctorate unless he deleted the material. He did so and published the material about the used of psilocybin mushrooms and the emergence of Western Civilization. ORIGINAL SIN reveals more of the forbidden information that Dr. Hillman was uncovered.

Because of this work, Dr. Hillman has been "black balled" from academic classics - even though CHEMICAL MUSE has been widely acclaimed. He now teaches Latin in a private girls' school to inch out a living to support his wife and two children.

What one author said about Hillman's discoveries and his expulsion from Classics.

“The role of psychoactive drugs has been airbrushed out of the conventional picture of Western civilization. The academics who have created this drug-free Greco-Roman world have found their nemesis in Dr. Hillman’s The Chemical Muse. With clarity and directness the author gives us back a lost chapter of our Classical heritage and by doing so restores our understanding of this past.”—Richard Rudgley, author of Lost Civilizations of the Stone Age

Interesting but wanted more
By J. Lacey
I purchased this book after having heard the author interviewed on a radio program. Whilst I find his premise interesting, I wish there had been more direct quotes to substantiate his claims. During the course of his interview, Dr. Hillman asserted that his book was well researched and that quotes by early Christian leaders regarding child rape in the burgeoning church were included in his treatise; this is not necessarily true. First off: this book is extremely short - 145 pages. In my opinion such a subject warrants a much longer narrative, possibly spanning centuries, and when I finished the book after less than two hours I was left with more questions than answers.
There are many quotes in the book - mostly offered as little side lines from the main narrative - and they mostly deal with Christian misogynistic views and their stance on the use of drugs by Pagan cults and the need for Christian sobriety. There are no footnotes, end notes, bibliography, or any research material offered in the book. I also believe this to be a sequel to Dr. Hillman's The Chemical Muse, which directly dealt with ritual drug use in the classical pagan world and indeed, I'd say 85% of this book deals with that subject alone. He offers compelling evidence that the church waged the "first war on drugs" and began the "war on women" which we are still fighting to this day.
Dr. Hillman's views on women and their place in ancient society was informative and he eloquently described the reasons and means by which early church fathers sought to silence females and to relegate them to the roles of second class citizens. The quotes he offers by St. Ambrose, Cyril and Tertullian regarding women are chilling in their all-out-hatred of the female gender and reveal an early Christian campaign to create a "third class" of humans who were - in the writings of St. Ambrose - to be regarded as less than slaves. It is no wonder that even today, women fight tooth and nail for respect and places of leadership within the Christian community.
When Hillman finally gets to the "meat of the matter" in the final chapters, the author's hypothesis on ritual child rape is not as well supported. He describes how he believes the ritual was performed - even makes some statements of how Cyril of Alexandria participated and commented on the ceremony - yet offers no concrete quotes from the prelate's writings to actually support his theory. He remarks very briefly on the Gospel of Mark's assertion that a young naked man was with Jesus at Gethsemane (and yes, this IS in the Bible) yet never expands on it, nor offers any theories on why the gospel included such an obtuse comment and how it might have effected early Church teachings (that, in itself could have taken up an entire chapter). In his radio interview, Dr. Hillman claimed that child abuse has been rampant in the church since its inception and church elders constantly dealt with the issue - so I hoped that Original Sin would include documentation to support this, yet the author never addressed this idea in the book. (That would have been an informative and fascinating read, as well as a strong support for his claims).
I do not find Dr. Hillman's premise to be preposterous; in fact, I have no problem entertaining the idea the idea that the church has been abusing children for centuries, yet I'd hoped the book would have offered stronger support for the claim. I would recommend this book for a fast, interesting read on Pagan ideals and how they were obliterated rather than as a treatise on a tradition of child abuse.

Written by a yeshiva sophomore?
By Theophilus Parabombastus
Readers with a cursory knowledge of Greek culture will be surprised at the assertion that women played a prominent role in Attic politics and philosophy. Of course, they didn't, but the good doctor fails to provide any footnotes for his "wealth of evidence" that consists of a few vague exhortations against lechery. Chapters begin and end with accusations totally unsubstantiated by the bulk of the material; he can't even stay on topic. Just an inept anti-Christian rant, not to be taken seriously. I had hoped to find material I could use, as I consider pedophilia a major problem in the Catholic church. (I am Catholic.) I have personally known someone who was given heroin and raped by Catholic priests at the age of 12, and a girl whose father started sexually abusing her when she was 11 (the father was highly active in his protestant church). But this reads like it was written by an unbalanced yeshiva sophomore. Paints Christ as a pedophile, Saint Peter as a murderer, and Greece as rewritten to suit the fantasies of Gloria Steinem. Of course there is no mention of Talmudic pedophilia, nor of the efforts of Sigmund Freud, Leo Strauss and their ilk to render this kind of behavior acceptable. Bizarre. Destroys his credibility, which is a shame, because his previous book, The Chemical Muse, is a worthwhile contribution. Also, Hillman likes the title of 'doctor,' though he admits he only attained it by playing the obscurantist. And his photo, which is reproduced at the beginning and the end of the book, shows a pompous douche in front of a statue of Pan. Christians take note, you are too prudish to appreciate such a sculpture.

I liked this book

I liked this book. I thought it was very informative and concise. The quotes from the primary sources were on each page in the squares where they stood out. I learned how the words "demon and pornography" were introduced into English lexicon. Additionally this book showed the goal of the Christian Church was political dominance and this dovetails with another book I'm reading "The History of the Inquisition of the Middle Ages" volumes 1,2, &3 by Henry C. Lea.
